Once Upon a Time... In the Shadows

Once upon a time is my debut exhibition based upon the theme of fairytales. It features the work and illustrations of wonderful and brilliantly talented artist Helen Hughes. Her work immediately transports us into another time and world of fantasies, of magical adventures, delicate princesses and ethereal beauty. She is the perfect artist to begin this site.
Through her art Hughes encapsulates the delicacy of a childhood dream, transporting her audience into a visual bedtime fairytale. As a multifaceted artist Hughes can gracefully encapture the subtly of an entire Grim fairy tale and evoke feelings suspense, warmth and love that commonly feature within their narratives, in a vast range of mediums including photography and graphite. The Once Upon a Time...In the Shadows exhibition focuses upon Hughes' photography and digital illustration, it demonstrates the artist's gifted talents of encapturing a narrative through the technique of silhouette and background colour.
